Compassionate Inquiry Therapy

Compassionate Inquiry therapy is a program created to mimic the therapy approach that Gabor Maté began using while helping underprivileged homeless clients. It offers clients a chance to make connections about their lived experiences and the challenges they are facing today.

Compassionate Inquiry Builds Awareness

Awareness is everything. Awareness allows us to become closer to our true selves, offering a way to let go of the past. There is going to be a lot of change coming in the next few years on Earth. With our uncertain future, we need to begin prioritizing ourselves and reconnect with our life’s purpose. We can’t keep moving through life unaware of the patterns showing up, repeating the same cycles over and over again. We need to take ownership for our life.

Compassionate Inquiry helps ourselves grow. By revisiting our past with compassion, we gain new insights about what we lived through, which in turn allows us to release the weight of guilt and shame that many of us carry. If we are ready, we can create new beliefs – that we are good, that we are enough, that we matter, and that we are kind.

Compassionate Inquiry in Kincardine, and Online in Ontario

When we are performing Compassionate Inquiry in a therapy session, we are going back in time. We get to become a friend to the children within, offering ourselves compassion and love. Compassionate Inquiry therapy can be offered virtually within Ontario, Canada, because it only requires your full attention and presence during our sessions.

Compassionate Inquiry goes through the 8 stepping stones taught by Dr. Gabor Maté in his year-long program. It is very intuitively led, allowing the therapist to stay fully attuned to their client because they are taught this is the most important part of the therapeutic relationship. Frequently Asked Questions About Compassionate Inquiry

Is Compassionate Inquiry Gentle?

Compassionate Inquiry therapy is less gentle than other modalities we provide. It’s primary focus is on building awareness about the patterns and cycles that are showing up in your life, then tracking it back to your past. We are creatures of habit, meaning that when we learn that something helps us as a child, we continue to use it even when it hurts us as adults. Compassionate Inquiry can support profound growth for those of us who want to create lasting change in their lives. It is recommended that clients become aware of their capacity to be present for themselves before becoming tied to Compassionate Inquiry. We can do this by noticing how easy it is to notice our body and how it responds to our triggers. If we are unable to notice any physical sensations, Compassionate Inquiry may be too challenging. It may be recommended that you begin another therapy modality first, such as Brainspotting Therapy or Relational Therapy.

Will Compassionate Inquiry Cause Me to Hate My Parents?

Compassionate Inquiry opens up awareness. This means that anything that was previously covered up has the potential to come forward. This can change how we feel about the ones we love, and it is important for us to recognize this as a possibility. It is up to you as the client whether or not you feel ready to go towards this path of inner transformation. When we jump in and experience truth, it is impossible to go back. This can feel scary to many. An important question to ask ourselves is “Is it better to continue living an unhappy life of unawareness, or do I want to become aware and become who I truly am?”
