Therapy for Birth Trauma & Postpartum Depression
Psychotherapy & counselling services for new parents struggling with anxiety and depression symptoms. The transition into parenthood is overwhelming. We can help you feel like yourself again, feel more connected with your new baby and your partner, and enjoy your postpartum journey.
Society Has Set New Parents Up For An Impossible Task
Many new parents that come into our therapy office feel blindsided by their experiences during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. Societal expectations have never been higher, while access to support is minimal. Together we can work through:
- Traumatic experiences during pregnancy, birth and postpartum
- Internal feelings of guilt & shame, beliefs of not being good enough
- Anxiety & preoccupation with your baby/toddler’s sleep & feeding patterns
- Anger or resentment towards your partner
- Difficulties transitioning to being home on maternity leave
- Difficulties with regulating your emotions
- Navigating relationship challenges with your partner, family & friends
- Intrusive thoughts and images related to your or your baby’s safety
- Disconnection from the present moment, feeling lost
- Symptoms impacting your ability to care for yourself or your baby, be in relationship with others, or to function in your day-to-day life
Therapy Helps With:
Birth Trauma
Trauma is healed in connection with others. Our trained therapists support clients through their birthing story, allowing them to feel at ease postpartum.
Anxiety
Postpartum anxiety steals the present from us, keeping us hostage. CBT therapy and nervous system regulation supports clients to become grounded.
Depression
The transition to parenthood is very difficult. Loss and other hardships can cause us to lose hope, becoming depressed. Therapy provides coping tools and strategies to get unstuck.
Grief & Loss
When things go wrong, it can feel impossible to move forward. Frequent reminders make it hard to stay positive. We support clients through their grief one step at a time.
