REGISTERED NURSE PSYCHOTHERAPIST · KINCARDINE + VIRTUAL ONTARIO

Victoria Hamilton

BScN, RN Psychotherapist, IBCLC, PMH-C

I work with adults who want to understand what is happening beneath the surface — not only manage what keeps showing up.

Trauma, anxiety, neurodivergence, relationships and life experiences can shape the way we protect ourselves, connect with other people and relate to ourselves.

My approach is relational, trauma-informed and depth-oriented. Together, we can become curious about the patterns that have developed, what they may have been trying to do for you, and what becomes possible when you have more choice in how you respond.

YOU MAY CONNECT WITH MY APPROACH IF…

Maybe you understand a lot about yourself already — but something still isn't shifting.

You may find yourself here if:

  • you can explain why you react the way you do, but still feel pulled into the same patterns
  • you hold a lot together for other people while feeling overwhelmed internally
  • past experiences continue to affect trust, relationships, boundaries or how safe you feel
  • you spend a lot of energy masking, adapting or trying to be what is expected of you
  • you want to better understand neurodivergence or the way your brain and nervous system experience the world
  • you're tired of relating to yourself as another problem that needs to be solved

We don't have to begin by deciding what's wrong with you. We can begin by becoming curious about what makes sense.

WHAT THERAPY WITH ME IS LIKE

I’m interested in the why beneath the pattern.

I don't tend to see emotions, reactions or protective behaviours as things we simply need to get rid of.

I'm interested in how they developed. What was happening when they became necessary? What are they still trying to prevent, manage or protect? And what happens when you can begin listening to yourself without immediately judging what you find?

Therapy with me is relational and collaborative. We may slow things down, notice what is happening in the moment, explore connections between past and present, or work more experientially when talking alone doesn't seem to reach what you're feeling.

The goal isn't to manufacture a better or different version of you.

It's to help you become more connected to yourself — with greater understanding, compassion and choice.

AREAS WE CAN EXPLORE TOGETHER

Trauma + earlier experiences

When experiences from the past continue to influence the way you feel, react, relate or protect yourself in the present.

Anxiety + emotional overwhelm

When your mind or body feels as though it is constantly anticipating, managing or preparing for something.

Attachment + relationship patterns

Exploring trust, closeness, boundaries, conflict and the ways relationships can activate old responses.

ADHD + neurodivergence

Understanding your own way of experiencing the world with more context and less self-judgment. Building new habits to tend to your needs.

Parenting + identity

When caring for other people brings up questions about your own needs, history, identity or way of relating. Learning how to re-parent yourself.

Life transitions + self-trust

When something is changing and the old way of understanding yourself no longer quite fits. Developing new ways of being.

HOW I WORK

Different approaches. One question: what does this person need?

I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, Compassionate Inquiry and nervous-system-informed approaches depending on what we're exploring and what feels useful to you.

But the modality is not the centre of the work.

The relationship is.

I pay attention to the words you use, but also to what becomes harder to say, where you pull away, what your body seems to notice, and what happens between us in the room.

Over time, therapy can become a place to practise listening inward differently — with more curiosity and less pressure to immediately fix what you find.

ABOUT VICTORIA

The way I work has been shaped by both clinical experience and real life.

Hi, I’m Victoria — though many people know me as Tori. I’m a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist, clinic owner and mother of four, and much of my career has been spent alongside people during times of vulnerability, uncertainty and change.

Before moving into psychotherapy, I worked as a Registered Nurse with people across the lifespan — from birth through end-of-life care. Nursing taught me how to stay present when things are complicated, how to listen for what isn’t always being said, and how to hold clinical responsibility alongside the very human experience of the person in front of me. Those lessons still shape the way I practise today. Attuned Therapy + Wellness

I’m naturally drawn to the deeper layers of experience: the patterns beneath symptoms, the ways we learn to protect ourselves, the impact of attachment and relationships, and the meaning we make from what we have lived through. I’m especially interested in the intersection of trauma, neurodivergence, intergenerational patterns, spirituality, identity and the different ways people adapt in order to belong, cope or stay connected.

I also tend to be someone who keeps learning. My training has taken me into Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting, Compassionate Inquiry, trauma and nervous-system work, perinatal mental health and other areas that continue to deepen the way I understand people. I’m actively involved in the IFS community and value being part of spaces where clinicians can keep questioning, learning and refining their work. Attuned Therapy + Wellness

Outside of individual therapy, I’m interested in the systems around good care too — how clinicians work sustainably, how practices support both clients and therapists, and how complex clinical ideas can be communicated in ways that actually make sense. That part of me shows up in my work as a clinic owner, writer, mentor and clinical leader.

TRAINING + PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

My Trainings

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS is a gentle, respectful approach that helps you explore the different “parts” of yourself — like the inner critic, the overwhelmed part, or the part that wants to shut down. It’s especially helpful for healing trauma, improving self-understanding, and reconnecting with your authentic self.
Trainings:

  • IFS Level 1 - Program Assistant (2026)
  • IFS Level 1 – IFS Institute (2025)

  • IFS & Intimacy From the Inside Out (2024)

  • Parenting with the IFS Model (2024)

  • IFS with Children & Adolescents (2024)

  • Stepping Stone IFS Certificate – IFSCA (2023)

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a brain-body therapy that uses the visual field to access and process stored trauma. It’s especially effective for emotional regulation, trauma recovery, and performance blocks.
Training:

Compassionate Inquiry

Developed by Dr. Gabor Maté, this approach gently uncovers the unconscious beliefs and emotional patterns that shape how we live, relate, and suffer. It emphasizes presence, compassion, and connection.
Training:

Trauma & Nervous System Regulation

Understanding how trauma lives in the body is essential to healing. I integrate nervous system-informed approaches to help you feel safe, grounded, and empowered.
Trainings Include:

  • Complex PTSD & Trauma Certification Course – Dr. Arielle Schwartz (2022)

  • Self-Regulation Certificate (2024)

  • ADHD Across the Lifespan (2024)

Perinatal & Family Support

Supporting parents and families through pregnancy, postpartum, sleep, and feeding challenges has been part of my work for years. I bring compassion, expertise, and lived experience as a mom of four.
